The Wildflower season from July to November is ranked as one of Australia’s most fascinating and precious national treasures. Harness racing is a popular pastime in Perth. Gloucester Park overlooking the Swan River and minutes from Perth is a well reputed harness racing venue, in the heart of the city.
The West Australian Symphony orchestra performs regularly in the city and the Northam Motorcycle Festival steals the show every time it is held. International Cricket matches and tennis tournaments are also very well attended events in the city.
The Western Australia International Arts Festival is the oldest multi-arts festivals in the Southern Hemisphere. For people keen to see an overview of what’s on in Perth the festival showcases theatre, music, visual arts and street arts. Literature and many free community arts events are also a feature of the festival which is held over three weeks in February and attracts up to 300,000 people.
The 2009 Perth Motor Show will be held from April 22-27. Last years show featured cars, fashion, family fun and entertainment for over 62,000 people.
V Festival showcases top international and national headline live music acts. The 2009 line-up will include acts such as The Killers, Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs and Elbow.
The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre is located close to the heart of Perth and can cater for up to 5000 delegates in a state-of-the–art, three level venue.
Perth racings meetings are commonly known as the breeding ground of champions.
Northerly, Rogan Josh, Placid Ark and Marasco are some of the champions to have hailed from Perth’s ascot recourse.
